Two Dots Review

Remember Betaworks’ Dots, the insanely addicting game that was simply about connecting like-colored dots? Well, it’s time to put that old dog to rest thanks to its direct sequel, Two Dots.

Two Dots Review

In this completely revamped and updated version of the game, you’ll join a very Amelia Earhart and Jacques Cousteau looking pair as they travel traverse through different levels of dot connecting adventures. That’s right. The developers has thrown out the original formula of high scores and time limits. Much like Candy Crush or Farm Heroes, this bad boy is all about blasting through levels through matching dominance with limited move set.

But it’s not all about matching vibrantly colored dots. Heck, it’s not even about making the level rocking squares. Taking a pager out of King’s playbook; you’ll also now need drops anchors, crush ice, put out fires, detonate bombs,  and more. But adding these new features, Two Dots has upped the IQ of its predecessor by making this game about strategy and technique. So, if you’re idea of fun is random and chaotic screen slashing, we suggest you check out a more amateurish match game.

As of writing this, the team of developers has put into place 110 levels of addicting and absolutely frustrating (but immensely entertaining) gameplay. But it’s not just about the play itself. The minimalistic approach to the game has given the game a very artistically beautiful feel that really can’t be rivaled in its genre.

However, the fun slows down when you realize that you’re out of moves. You’ll start the game with 5 hearts and you’ll lose them for every failed attempt at a level. In order to rejuvenate more lives, you’ll need to wait out a set time. Either that, or you’ll need to pay for additional lives. Of course, there is also a certain time time lapse cheat that can be used for cases such as this (google it up if you don’t know, folks).

Overall, Two Dots is gorgeously fun monumental game that rarely disappoints. Whether it’s that long subway ride home or that insomnia filled night in bed, Two Dots is the perfect mobile game to pass the time.
