No Brakes is a new racing game for iOS and Android devices that’s as minimalistic as they come. The only object of the No Brakes game is to go as fast as you can around a single track. Everyone has the same objective and resources. Can you pilot your happy little car to victory over every racer in the world? Time to grab the wheel–well, your phone–and give it your all.
Developed by Totebo LTD, No Brakes is the most stripped-down racer we’ve ever seen. It’s a game mostly about drifting around corners as you go faster and fast around a sort of figure-eight track. No Brakes lives up to its name, too. There’s no way to slow down, and you’re always accelerating. The only way to control yourself in No Brakes is to turn. Tap or hold the arrows on either side of the screen to turn in that direction. The directions are relative to the front of the “car,” so you don’t need to worry about shifting game controls.
The action in No Brakes gets more intense when you realize that even the slightest brush with the side of the track means death. Just tapping the wall on a corner will end the game. Your smiling racecar? Now it’s sad, and has Xs for eyes. That means it’s dead. Good job.
But don’t worry! Crashes are inevitable, but we can help. Follow the No Brakes tips below to bring out your racing A-game.
No Brakes Game Tips
Learn the Track
There’s no way to see the game’s entire track at once. This means you need to figure out where the curves are and remember them. When you can remember where to turn by instinct, you’ll be able to take the corners at higher speeds.
The track in No Brakes is shaped a little like a figure eight. The shape is turned on its side, though, and one end is much smaller than the other. Pick a route you want to take and stick with it. Once you get into a groove, it will be easier to keep it going and increase your top speed.
Drift Like Tokyo
Like we said before, the main point of the No Brakes game is to drift around corners. Start turning before the corner appears so that you slide around it. You will be able to do this more precisely if you tap the controls and don’t hold them.
Just like most racing games, it’s a good idea to stick to the inside of the No Brakes track. This way, you’ll be able to make wider turns around each corner and can avoid walls. Just don’t oversteer, since that will send you right into the other wall!
